New Years Day 2009 - Weymouth

A trip down to Weymouth to explore the Rodwell cycle trail.

There was no frost in Sherborne when we left at 12:30. However, at the high point on the Giants Head road at Gales Hill there was still a heavy frost.

The trees looked like they were covered in snow.

We did not see any activity in the harbour. All the boats stayed tied up.

This is Rodwell station on the old GWR line. The route has now been opened up as a cycle trail and footpath. The Rodwell Trail follows the track bed of the old Weymouth to Portland Railway for two and a quarter miles between Abbotsbury Road, Weymouth at Westham Halt to just beyond Wyke Regis Halt at Ferry Bridge.

There will be no train today!

There is quite a climb to the top. The trains must have worked hard here.
