24 August 2008 - Hilfield

A brief stop on a Sunday morning cycle ride. Hilfield is about a mile east of Batcombe. It is a tiny hamlet made up of mostly farms.

The church of St Nicholas. Until 1848 this was chapel served by Sydling. After this date the church was restored and after restoration the Church was reconsecrated and permission given for burials to take place in Hilfield churchyard. For more information follow this link.
