7 August 2010 - Kirkmadrine

Kirkmadrine is located 1½ miles southwest of Sandhead and is thought to represent one of the earliest Christian communities in Scotland

A 13th century a church had been built on this site, but this was ruined by the 18th century. Today, Kirkmadrine is the site of a 19th-century burial chapel with a porch containing Christian stones, collected from the churchyard, which date from the 5th century AD.

I took this because I liked the pattern in the mowed field.
