A first visit to Martock for Dorsetcamera. This visit was to see the Treasurer’s House which is now in the care of the National Trust .
The Treasurer’s House. The property dates from the 13th century and was occupied at that time by the treasurer of Wells Cathedral. This part of the house is the Hall.
The building on the right is the Kitchen. The window in the upstairs centre is in the Solar which was a provate chamber.
The old Hall is on the right with more recent additions to the left.
This view shows all that is left of the main gateway. The arch on the right was for foot passengers. The main arch, which would have stood to the left of the foot entrance, has not survived.
The church of All Saints which dates from the 13th century.
Another view from the road.
This is the rather quaint Nat West Bank.
The Market house. Click on the blue plaque to read it.
The Post Office in East Street.
Another view of the Market House.
The view along Church Street towards the village centre. The building on the right behind the red van is the 19th century village hall. Click on the wall to read the blue plaque.
This building is now the youth centre.

Martock church of All Saints dates from the 13th century. The decorative stonework and windows above the nave.
The very colourful organ pipes.
This was a return visit for my wife to see the magnificent display of quilts.
There must be 1000’s of hours of work put into these quilts.
The alter and west window.
One of the many painted figures in canopied niches above the nave.
