January 2019 - Some photographs from a trip to Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve and RSPB Ham Wall reserve. Our intention was to see the starling murmuration at dusk which would either be at Shapwick or Ham Wall.
During the morning we walked around Shapwick Heath. The light was quite striking creating a nice glow on the reed tops.
Mostly wigeon with some coot and tufted duck.
It was difficult to study the wildfowl without a telescope. Next time!
A loved the clouds in this view from Ham Wall whilst waiting for the starlings to appear.
The start of the evenings performance.
We were blessed with a lovely sunset which made the experience all the more memorable.
A still image does not capture the true atmosphere.
An amazing sunset to end a fantastic day.
January 2019 - A second visit to see the Starling murmuration again.
Glastonbury Tor from Ham Wall RSPB reserve.
Black headed gull.
Great white egret.
The star event. The staring murmuration. Very difficult to capture in a still image.
