October 2015 - We have walked up Chapel Stile Field many times on our trips to Padstow. The view from the lower part of the field has always been obscured by a fence or wall. However, on this occasion the wall or fence was down giving us our first view of the Old Boatyard Quay. The harbour walls are believed to be circa 1534 and form part of an unusually complete group of structures. The two piers enclose a small dock at St Saviour’s Point and contain a later dated slipway to the SW corner. The piers curve inward to provide a small opening and a walkway is protected from the sea by a seaward shelter wall.
