A saturday afternoon visit to this hilltop town in North Dorset. Earlier in the day had been sunny but by the time we arrived it had started to cloud over.
The steep Tout Hill where we parked the car.
The famous Gold Hill.
This is my first attempt at a technique called HDR. It is made from 3 images at different exposures and them combined in Photoshop. It gives the effect of a watercolour painting.
14 July 08 update. Exactly the same image as above but after a lot more practice at the HDR post processing technique.
The Town Hall.
St Peter’s church and the Mitre Inn on the High Street.
Elegant red brick buildings on the high street.
The Post Office with Angel Lane on the left.
The junction of the High Street, Salisbury Street and Angel Lane.
A rather sad looking Grosvenor Hotel. The earliest records of this old coaching inn date back to 1541. It is to be auctioned at the end of January.
Bell Street.
The Ship In at the top of Tout Hill.
The old Holy Trinity church which is now a community centre used by the scouts and other town groups.
Park Walk which has magnificent views to the south.
The view the other way along Park Walk towards the town centre.
The view from Park Walk across to Compton Abbas.
From the same spot but looking further south with St James below.
