A return visit this time for the Winter Solstice. The week had been cold foggy and pretty miserable so the expectations were not high for a good sunrise.
Arriving at the stones at about 7:40.
There were already a lot of people gathered inside the circle.
Rituals and chanting.
The numbers were much less than for the Summer Solstice.
This group provided the rhythmical background drumming.
The first sign of sunrise on the way.
Sunrise at about 8:12.
A really magical experience.
A glimpse of the sun through the stones.
There was a really friendly atmosphere all around.
Full daylight and no sun. The sun was only visible for a short period of time but long enough to see it break the horizon.
