Butleigh is a small village located about 4 miles south east of Glastonbury. It has a special meaning for me as I lived here for a few years in the 70’s. The village is long overdue for inclusion on my website. So a trip down memory lane and some pictures from a very pleasant February afternoons walk around the village.

February 2015 - The village pub. The Rose and Portcullis. Without it’s sign you could easily drive past without realising it was a pub. I expect it is being worked on.

February 2015 - Sub Road, the main road through the village looking up the hill towards the pub.

February 2015 - The field on the corner of Sub Road and Chapel Lane. I think this used to part of the village butchers business.

February 2015 - Chapel lane walking towards the old butchers shop which was on the left at the approaching corner.

February 2015 - Chapel Lane. This is the property that was Otton’s Butchers when i lived here in the 70’s.

February 2015 - The church is dedicated to St Leonard. The present building dates mainly from the mid nineteenth century, although there has been a church on the site since Saxon times.

February 2015 - This lovely seat has been fashioned out of an old tree stump. It has panels celebrating the 2012 Olympics and the 2012 Diamond Jubilee.
